Minister on roadshow

Monday, March 18, 2013

A ROADSHOW organised by the Ministry of Labour that was scheduled to start in Nabouwalu today will now be held in Savusavu.

The Minister for Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, Jone Usamate and his team of officials will commence their Northern roadshow from Savusavu rather than Nabouwalu.

The re-scheduling is because of the last minute decision by a shipping company not to travel through the Nabouwalu route on Monday, causing the ministerial team to make quick adjustments so as to meet its commitment of providing the public the opportunity for face-to-face consultations.

The face-to-face consultations will be held at the Provincial Administrators' conference room in Savusavu from 2pm today.

Mr Usamate said he would begin the roadshow in Vanua Levu on March 21 where people in Labasa can bring their grievances forward and likewise, the same opportunity will be available for people in Seaqaqa on March 22.

"The public in Nabouwalu will not be missed out as they can come forward with any labour-related issues on March 22," he said.

"Despite the re-scheduling, I have very keen interest in meeting members of the public especially as it presents me with the opportunity to hear their labour grievances first-hand.

"I am looking forward to meeting members of the business communities and the local municipalities," he said.
