THE Sathya Sai Service organisation is calling on young people in the country to give blood and help save the lives in hospitals.
The organisation has been conducting blood drives over the past 30 years and aims to collect 800 pints this year to assist major hospitals.
Organisation chairman Mohan Lal said they had been receiving the same donors for the past few years.
"We have been having blood drives for the past 30 years and we are getting the same people each year," he said.
"We hardly have new donors therefore we are inviting young members of the community to come forward and donate blood.
"We have been told that hospitals need blood daily and this is the main reason of organising such drives."
Mr Lal said the organisation had collected more than 24,000 pints of blood since their first drive in 1990.
