TEN disabled women from the Western Division have been given a chance to learn beauty therapy skills at one of the country's most exclusive beauty therapy school.
Senikai Spas managing director Debra Sadranu confirmed this while addressing women at International Women's Day celebrations in Lautoka yesterday.
"I have recently donated 10 free courses to 10 disabled women, giving them an opportunity to enter the workforce or small businesses," she said.
"They too are able capable women who can contribute to their families and our economy."
Mrs Sadranu said the business community should look at ways of assisting the women.
"As a managing director of three companies that employ more than 80 women, I am empowered by what women in this country can achieve," she said.
Mrs Sadranu said rural women faced many obstacles but with support they too could start their own businesses.
One of the recipients of the course, Naomi Sabaru from the Qalinasavu Women's Club in Nadarivatu, said she was happy to be part of a course that could help her set up her own business in the future.
Mrs Sabaru said members of the business community should assist rural women in their efforts to generate income for their families.
