FIREMAN Anuresh Chandra is fighting against time to get well and be fit to participate at this weekend's Fiji Amateur Championship at the Fiji Golf Club course in Vatuwaqa.

The Nadi-based golfer is one of the top seeds in the two-day tournament which will starts tomorrow.

Chandra said the weather in the West was not favourable lately and had stopped him from doing his daily practice.

But he remains optimistic of a good outing at his favourite hunting ground in Suva.

"I won the Fiji Open amateur title at the Fiji Golf Club so I guess its kind of a lucky course for me," Chandra said.

"I haven't done much preparation because of the rainy weather here and also I'm down with flu and just hoping to recover in time for the game."

Chandra, who represented Fiji at the World Amateur Team Championship and NEC Masters, last year, is counting on his experience to guide him in an anticipated tough competition.

He will face the likes of Olaf Allen Jr, Roneel Prakash, Munesh Prasad, brother Amitesh Chandra, junior champion Baarroon Hussain and former professional Abid Hussain.
