SHIFTING the Coca Cola Games from its original dates will not kill the spirit of the competition at the annual secondary schools athletics meet.
So says Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association secretary Vuli Waqa who added competing at the new ANZ Stadium would make the event more exciting.
The stadium is under renovation and should be ready by May. Waqa confirmed they have received the green light from the Ministry of Education to move the games to May.
"We have received the confirmation from the Ministry of Education and we have decided to move the games to May," he said.
"Everyone (in the association) has agreed to the change and we are working on sending the message across to all the school principals.
"It would be great to compete at the new look stadium and hope the new features that has been added would increase the competition level and boost the spirit of the Games."
The tentative date set for the 2013 Coca Cola Games is May 16 and 17. Traditionally the Games were held in April, last week of Term One.
Waqa said they would finalise the dates and other details by early next week.
He said the preparation for this year's event was going well with the Lautoka Zone starting yesterday.
