NATIONAL sevens head coach Alifereti Dere is working on combining the individual skills of his players to form a lethal combination.

Yesterday, the former national sevens skipper tested his various combinations during a scrimmaging session with the Army rugby sevens team at the Nasova ground.

While he was pleased with the performance of players, Dere said they needed to work hard on their set-pieces.

"We want to see how we go about with our set pieces especially in the scrums, kick-offs and lineouts. That was the main reason we had this scrimmaging session," Dere said.

"This is good, we are being tested here and we still have to improve on certain things before we fly out. This is also our final scrimmaging session here before we leave next week.

"We are working at combining thefine individual skills so we can form a great team," he said.

Dere made some changes during the warm-up game. He tested Sakiusa Gavidi, Samisoni Viriviri and Ilai Tinai at halfback. Emosi Mulevoro, Tinai and Donasio Ratubuli spent time at the playmaker's role while Osea Kolinisau ran at rover and Benito Masilevu was outwide.

"This is our final 12 players and I will be playing them in various positions," Dere said.
