Raiders strong without stars

GOLD COAST - Losing strike players Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson would not make Canberra any easier to beat according to Gold Coast forward enforcer Greg Bird.

The Titans' No.1 hit man said news the dangerous pair would miss Sunday's Skilled Park clash after being suspended following a booze-fuelled weekend wasn't necessarily a bonus.

For the second week running, following a narrow loss last weekend to a drug-shrouded Cronulla, the Gold Coast face another NRL team under siege with Dugan's future at the Raiders uncertain.

Dugan not only posted pictures of himself drinking alcohol and flipping the bird on Twitter but also verbally abused his coach David Furner when the mentor had sought an explanation from his fullback this week.

"They'll still be very tough," said Bird, who along with several Titans teammates had their heads shaved and hair coloured yesterday to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
