WITH the huge success of last year's Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW), organisers are anticipating a lot more excitement for fashion lovers in 2013.

And for the first time ever, FJFW expects buyers from several overseas retailers to be in attendance at the show from October 1 to 5 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

In anticipation of this, FJFW has stepped up its game by beginning its calendar several months earlier, starting with an early designer call.

The FJFW has also partnered with MHCC as its sponsor which managing director, Ellen Whippy-Knight said was exciting for the long-term development of Fiji's fashion industry.

"The fashion industry in Fiji is taking off to greater heights and to have the support and financial backing of one of Fiji's biggest retailers is proof of the long-term viability of fashion as an industry," Ms Whippy-Knight said.

She said for the first time the show would have overseas buyers looking at what designers here were producing.

"This means higher quality garments, higher quality shows, so those who love fashion with a passion should get in early and register to design for MHCC FJFW 2013," Ms Whippy-Knight said.

In a bid to ensure all designers are equipped and adequately prepared, there will be a series of seminars throughout the year beginning with a free designers information seminar at the Fiji Club on March 16.
