NINE players will make their debut at the Hong Kong 7s tournament including three who will be unveiled at the HSBC Sevens World Series for the first time.
Nadroga scrumhalf Sakiusa Gavidi, Suva's Emosi Mulevoro and Donasio Ratubuli Naturaga are the new faces in the 12-member Digicel Fiji sevens team while ginger haired Osea Kolinisau and lanky Army forward Leone Nakarawa have been recalled into the team.
Other players such as Jasa Veremalua, Ulaiasi Lawavou, Jone Vota, Nakarawa, Benito Masilevu and Samisoni Viriviri will also make their Hong Kong debuts.
Nagusa and Ilai Tinai are the only survivors of last year's winning team after Setefano Cakau was ruled out with a knee injury.
Head coach Alifereti Dere has retained several players from the previous IRB tournaments in Wellington and Las Vegas.
"These players we have got them from the third leg, we are building on these players so they can take us forward," he said.
Kolinisau will make a return after missing out on the Wellington and Las Vegas tournaments while Nakarawa has waited long enough to make his return to the abbreviated code.
"Kolinisau and Nakarawa have the experience and I believe they will contribute well to this team."
He said they would try their best to defend the Hong Kong 7s which kicks off next week.
"The series is getting tougher, we have named these players who have showed us that they got the potential to play at this level. We will try to go out there and give our best shot."
