THIS week marks the beginning of a pest identification training program for 15 officers from the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) exports office in Suva.
It is aimed at improving the officers' skills to help them intercept possible border breaches.
In a statement, the authority said the training would enhance skills in early identification of common plant pest and diseases intercepted at the border and associated with fresh produce, import and export commodities.
As well it would provide early and effective intervention to manage or eliminate any risks.
