TAGITAGI sugarcane growers were reminded that loans given for sugarcane planting should not be used for any other purpose.
Speaking to close to 120 farmers who participated in industry stakeholders consultations earlier this week, Tate and Lyle sugar consultant Dan Boodhna said funds loaned for cane production should only be used for that purpose.
"The Cane Development Revolving Fund is an interest-free loan that has been provided for the planting of new cane," he said.
He said once this fund was exhausted, farmers could obtain finance from the Sugar Cane Growers Fund.
