State centre to deliver

PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama wants the government to deliver on its promises to the people.

Commodore Bainimarama made the comment while opening the new government service centre in Labasa yesterday.

He said the government would not just provide lip service to the idea, which was what had been known to happen in the past.

"As your Prime Minister, I regard the delivery of basic services to all Fijians as the government's main priority," he said. "Keeping promises is one thing. But government also has to be present in our communities and actively engage with them."

Commodore Bainimarama also apologised to those present at the occasion for wearing his military uniform to the event but he said it meant a hidden message.

"That message means that the military will always support government to ensure delivery of services."
