FIJI National Rugby League 2011 player of the year Peni Botiki has been drafted in the Fiji Bati Western Conference training squad in preparation for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Botiki has returned to the country after representing the Collegians 1st grade team in the Illawarra Rugby League premiership in Australia.

The former Saru Dragons player joined the training session in Lautoka last week.

FNRL development officer Semesa Cadrakilagi said Botiki was forced to return after his visa expired.

He said Botiki would now fully concentrate on securing a spot in the Fiji Bati team for the RLWC.

Cadrakilagi said the focus during training was on strength building. "The players are undergoing three weight sessions during the week," Cadrakilagi said. "They are taking supplements to maintain build and maintain their stamina. Peni's inclusion in the squad is a boost. We will continue with the weights program."

A total of 13 players are part of the Fiji Bati Western Conference training squad. The RLWC will be jointly hosted by England and Wales from October 26 to November 30.
