THE Fiji Ruby Union has turned to using judo to train their front row players.
Setefano Somoca, Benji Makutu, Jerry Naureure, Jone Vuniwere, Bill Veikoso, Manasa Saulo and J. Watisoni, David Edward, Joji Washington, Viliame Ralesi, Marika Cabenalevu and the under 20 front row players have been requested to attend a special training session tomorrow.
The session would be known as Elite Scrum Day and would be supervised by FRU national coaching director Franck Boivert.
He said it was extremely important for front row players to be well versed with a sport like judo if they want to improve their scrum techniques.
"As we have seen in the past, the scrums are one of our major weaknesses," Boivert said.
"So we have resorted to using judo and it is extremely important for props and front row players to know this sport," he said.
