SRI Lankan citizen Yohan Liyanage was sworn in as acting Chief Registrar by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Mr Liyanage has a wealth of experience in the field of law.
"He graduated from the Sri Lankan Law College in 2003 before taking up post of a state prosecutor in the Attorney-General's department conducting prosecutions in the Magistrates Courts of Sri Lanka," the statement read.
It said that following this, Mr Liyanage took up office as a state counsel in 2005 and conducted prosecutions involving civil and criminal cases.
Mr Liyanage has also worked in many different parts of Sri Lanka, including Gampaha, Colombo and Kurunegala.
