Update: 1:01PM FOLLOWING the aggravated robbery of a taxi driver yesterday afternoon, the Fiji Police Force has advised taxi drivers to take extra caution when picking up passengers.
Spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri, in a statement, said this was a worrying trend and that it could worsen.
"The criminal elements will take this weather condition as an opportunity to target drivers, which is why we are advising caution," Inspector Sokomuri said.
He added that taxi drivers should stop at their nearest police community post and let them know where they were going if they felt unsafe at any time with the passengers they were transporting.
Since January this year, there have been 11 cases of aggravated robberies against taxi drivers.
