THE search continued yesterday for a man who went missing in waters between Vatulele Island and Korolevu on Thursday.
The unidentified man was part of a group of five men who were travelling to Vatulele on Thursday afternoon when their boat capsized in rough seas after developing engine trouble.
In a statement yesterday, police said the missing man was last seen swimming to the mainland to get help when the boat developed problems with its engine.
An intensive search began on Friday with vessels from nearby resorts, the Fiji Navy and a New Zealand rescue aircraft involved.
Robinson Crusoe Island Resort owner Wayne Latter, who co-ordinated the rescue effort via radio between a search aircraft and his game fishing boat, said one of his staff members was seriously injured in the process.
