RAW talent at the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association open trials took officials by surprise at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.
Over 150 girls attended the first of the two trials that would be used to select a team to participate in the Trans Tasmania Netball Series to be held in New Zealand later this year.
FSSNA assistant secretary Filo Boseiwaqa said girls from as far as Lautoka and Levuka attended the trials.
She said word about the formation of a national secondary schools team was spread quickly and it was evident in the number of girls that attended the trials.
"We have 12 rounds of trials for which we had 24 teams so that just shows the huge number of girls that attended," Boseiwaqa said.
"We had girls from Lautoka, Nadroga, Cuvu, Suva, Nasinu and Levuka that took part in the trials," she said.
She said it was very tough to select the players because of the talent that was on show.
