NAKASI High School celebrated International Women's Day on Friday with the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
In his address to the students, Ratu Epeli spoke on the issue of HIV and AIDS awareness.
In a statement by the school's principal, Premila Kumar, she said the keynote speech given by the president had much importance to the students.
"He emphasised on the importance of knowing about the causes and effects of HIV/AIDS. He highlighted on the role of parents in advising their children on this issue," Mrs Kumar said.
She appreciated the president's advocacy work on HIV/AIDS.
"March 8 is a significant day since this day is dedicated to women. This significant day would be a reason also to remind our girls of their role in combating HIV/AIDS."
