YOUNG talented people took part in the first round of the Kaila Star Search audition for this year at the Civic Centre in Suva yesterday.
For some individuals, the audition was a family event as parents and family members showed up to support young ones.
Kaila Star Search co-ordinator Savuto Vakadewavosa said the turnout was better than last year. He said the event had progressed over the years and that many people had taken part. "There is a lot of talent out there and this audition gives people the chance to showcase their talent," Mr Vakadewavosa said.
"The platform is here and we need people to come and be part of the audition."
He said the Kaila Star Search audition has been split into three rounds and the audition judges would then make the final cut on those who would perform for the public.
"The winning package for this year is great and we hope many people come in and take part," he said. The organisers expect about 100 people to audition with more than 20 people participating in the first round of auditions yesterday.
