COMMITTEE members of Early Childhood Centres in the North received teaching materials from Save the Children Fund Australia yesterday as they ended their week-long workshop with stakeholders .
Save the Children Fiji, through its Vuli Taumada Sishak program initiated 16 ECE centres in the North of which five were being recognised by the Education Ministry.
Vuli Taumada Sishak project manager Barbara Ratabacaca lauded the support from government saying that four more centres had been established by the ministry in the north alone.
She thanked government for their support with the $3.3m budget allocation that they received this year compared to the usual $1m for previous years.
"We are glad that government has recognised the importance of ECE and in deciding to allocate us this budget which has really helped a lot," she said.
"We are training our teachers so that they get qualifications and contribute to their respective ECE's recognitions as per the standards of MOE."
