NATIONAL Rugby League (NRL) club, North Queensland Cowboys are interested in recruiting Marist Brothers High School strong running centre Viliame Kikau.
Kikau impressed the Cowboys recruitment officers last week during their win over Lomaivuna in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition last Saturday.
The Cowboys Recruitment and Development officers Adrian Thompson, Dean Payne and Aaron Payne were in the country last week. The trio conducted clinics at secondary schools and the Nausori Cowboys rugby league team.
Thompson had expressed their interest of recruiting secondary school players.
Fiji Secondary School Rugby League secretary Biu Colati said the Cowboys were interested in recruiting a secondary school player.
"The Cowboys scouts came to us last week and told us that they were interested in a particular Marist player.
"They did not reveal the name to us and at this time nothing has been confirmed," he said.
"It will be a long process to sign a player. All necessary documents will have to be finalised before Kikau signs the contract or scholarship."
He said Kikau had a bright future considering his raw talent.
The former Queen Victoria School student was part of the MBHS under-18 rugby team at the Deans competition last year.
His built and skills were exceptional and attracted the attention of the Cowboys scouts.
Meanwhile, in tomorrow's FSSRL fixtures, Lelean Memorial School takes on Suva Grammar Titans while Lomaivuna battle MBHS in the U19 grade.
