FORMER senator Isaia Gonewai has died.
Mr Gonewai died at his home in Korotogo Village, Nadroga, last week at the age of 77.
His daughter Mili Gonewai said her father had complained of backache for some time.
Mr Gonewai served as a senator in the Qarase government from 2001 to 2006.
He was a teacher by profession and taught for 30 years. He was the first principal of the Nadroga Navosa Provincial High School from 1976 to 1980.
Assistant roko tui Nadroga/Navosa Rusiate Raidaveta said the former senator also served in the Nadroga/Navosa Provincial Council as vice chairman for many years. He will be buried today at Korotogo.
