A DOCTOR appeared in the High Court in Suva yesterday for allegedly raping a teenage girl. He is charged with two counts of rape. The alleged offence took place between August and November 2009. On the first count, the accused, between August 8 and 31, 2009 allegedly unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the complainant without her consent. On the second count, between October 10 and November 30, 2009, he again allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the same complainant without her consent.
The court was told the complainant who was 13 years old at the time of the alleged offence, is now 16 years old. The case will be called again before Judge Justice Salesi Temo on April 29 for a pre-trial conference.
