THE cream of Fiji volleyball will converge at the FMF Gymnasium this weekend to battle for the coveted Vanua Challenge title.
Thirty-two men's and women's teams have qualified to participate in the two-day meet which starts this Friday in Laucala.
The quarter-finalists from the Vulaca Championship and the Western Rally booked their places for this annual national meet.
Registration fee per team is $100 and is to be paid in to the Fiji Volleyball Federation (FVF) treasurer Elesi Ketedromo at Fiji Sports Commission.
Meanwhile Gold FM Suva is the defending champions in the men's grade while Kinoya Green is the holders of the women's title.
Both teams have qualified to defend their titles this year.
FVF president Tomasi Katonivualiku said the title race in both grades would be interesting considering the rise of new teams lately.
In the men's grade, Raiwai Gold looks to be a threat to the capital city side following its win at the Vulaca Championship last month.
"But Suva is always tough when it comes to defending titles and it would be interesting to see who emerges on top at the Vanua Challenge this weekend."
The last tournament was the Vulaca tournament where Raiwai defeated Suva in the final.
