THE FICAC case regarding the former Fiji National Provident Fund deputy general manager Foana Nemani was called before Justice Prahabaran Kumararatnam.
FICAC senior legal officer Rashmi Aslam informed Justice Kumararatnam that FICAC had filed a notice of additional evidence and that FICAC prosecution does not have any other pre trial conference (PTC) issues.
Justice Kumararatnam enquired if a counsel had been appearing on Mrs Nemani's instructions to which Mr Aslam stated the defence counsel had only appeared in the Magistrates Court and not thereafter because there had not been any instructions after the matter had been transferred to the High Court.
Mr Aslam also made known to the judge there was bench warrant issued by the Magistrates Court and was still in effect.
Justice Kumararatnam adjourned the matter to May 30 to check on the preliminary issues and to fix a trial date for a trial in absentia for Mrs Nemani.
Mrs Nemani was FNPF deputy general manager when she was charged with extortion by public officer and abuse of office.
