A WIN over Idaman last week will inspire the Warriors side ahead of their crucial clash with Saints in the Suva/Laucala Basketball League tonight.

Led by national reps in Frank Saketa, Sakiusa Rokodi and towering Ioane Naivalurua, the Warriors beat Idaman 34-31 in a close encounter at the Vodafone Arena last Tuesday.

Idaman displayed a much improved performance and took the Warriors side to the wire with tireless performance through the game.

Koli Matalau was on fire for Idaman scoring 11 points. Idaman were trailing with six points when John Miller nailed the final basket at the buzzer to narrow the deficit at 31-34.

Suva/Laucala Basketball Association official Leonard Whippy said the Warriors and Idaman game was an even contest.

He said both teams showed urgency and displayed wonderful basketball skills.

"Idaman put in a much improved performance since their first meeting in round one. It was a close, evenly matched game throughout," Whippy said.

"Warriors were able to maintain possession and force some turnovers in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter to give them a six point cushion in the final minute."

Tonight the Warriors will line-up the defending champion, Saints led by Whippy at 7 o'clock. Whippy said the match between Saints and Warriors would be a thriller to watch.
