Hong Kong mission starts

THE Digicel Fiji Sevens squad marched into camp yesterday for the second phase of preparation for the Hong Kong and Japan 7s tournaments later this month.

The 21-member squad had a session at the High Performance Unit gym in Laucala conducted by the newly appointed national trainer Aisea Bici.

The squad will have two training sessions daily for the rest of this week which includes gym work and combination building on field.

Coach Alifereti Dere is expected to name the 16-member squad by this Friday.

The final 12-member team for the fourth leg of the 2012/13 HSBC IRB Sevens World Series will be named next week.

The Hong Kong 7s will be held from March 22 to 24 followed by the Japan 7s a week later.

The national side is the top seed in Pool D at the Hong Kong 7s which also has hosts Hong Kong, Spain and Canada.
