WATER Authority of Fiji staff members will now have Vodafone Fiji's service numbers 131 and 444 on their fingertips after they changed mobile network providers last week.
The agreement was formally officiated at a signing that will run for two years.
Under the arrangement 1100 staff members received their new company phones which have been activated for the service.
Senior business analyst Manasa Tusulu said the new change could only mean more opportunities in terms of pricing that always made customers reluctant to call earlier and at the same time improve service delivery.
"Vodafone is the preferred service provider and they offered cheaper call rates," he said.
"Now this service is under short code services where our customers can dial our landline number 3346777 which is now 5777 and accessible on mobile — now customers will be charged normal mobile rates which are cheaper for them.
"This new change also exemplifies WAF's vision in moving into the future which Vodafone has the capability to meet."
Mr Tusulu said reaction was as expected and the transition was going smoothly.
"Reaction is good from the staff and we were also quite fortunate to have been able to also get some promotions which were welcomed by the staff," he said.
WAF currently has more than 344 sites nationwide — these include depots and pumping stations, and 11 customer service outlets.
