THE Marika Namaqa-coached Nadi side maintained its second spot in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football Youth League western playoffs following a 2-0 win over Nadroga at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
Nadi's victory keeps the pressure on unbeaten Ba which leads the competition with maximum points from four games.
Muni Ajendra Reddy and Shanal Chand scored for the Nadi team in the first spell.
Nadroga had their chances of scoring but could not get the ball past Nadi goalkeeper Samuela Tukunano.
Namaqa said they missed a couple of key players who were drafted into the senior side.
He said the win was important to keep up with leaders Ba.
"We played well in the first half," Namaqa said.
"With two goals up the boys relaxed a bit. There is still a long way to go in the competition with another full round to be played."
In another youth fixture Tavua upset hosts Lautoka 4-3 in a come-from-behind victory. This was Tavua's first win in the competition.
Kamenieli Raudovu struck twice for Tavua while the other goals came from Maika Kau and Waicala Onisimo. Shiron Naidu scored a brace for Lautoka while Siotame Kubu scored the other goal.
Ba leads the competition with 12 points followed by Nadi with nine points, Lautoka with three points, Tavua with three points while Nadroga is yet to register a point.
