SOME top clubs missed out on qualifying for the Nawaka 7s Cup quarter-finals yesterday.
This is after they were pitted against other top contenders for the tournament in the eliminations.
In the top half of the second eliminations, Westfield I beat BSP Police 19-5, Wardens Green lost to Red Rock I 19-24, while Lomaiviti went down to Army Green 5-10.
From the bottom some minor clubs went through to the quarter-finals with Sabeto beating Army Red 10-5, Tale Babas 18 downing Wardens Gold 7, West Police 7 beating Yamacia 0, Nawaka Black downing Wadigi 10-7 and Tovolea beating Cakaudrove 19-7.
Nawaka Rugby Union president Mataiasi Nabau said it was through the luck of the draw that the teams went through to the Cup quarter-finals.
He said the clubs from Nadi including Tale Babas, Saunaka, Nawaka Black and Tovolea proved their worth.
