FOUR bus companies in the Western Division are yet to install the e-ticketing system in their buses.

This was confirmed by Land Transport Authority's west team leader Joji Suguturaga.

Mr Suguturaga said the companies were yet to buy the comsols in which e-cards would be swiped by each passenger as they boarded the bus.

"We have been liaising with them and we will visit them again on Monday to check whether they have bought the systems," he said.

With only a few weeks left for buses to install the systems and passengers to register for e-cards, Mr Suguturaga said the LTA would step-up its operations to ensure that all bus companies installed the systems before March 30.

"There are five front office providers in the country which any of these companies can buy these comsols from.

"As for the back office providers, passengers can go to Foneology and Vodafone Fiji to get their e-cards," he said.

Mr Suguturaga said so far bus companies in the region which have already installed the system have not experienced any hiccups with the new system.

"So far, we have not received any complaints from bus companies and passengers regarding the system.

"We hope to maintain that and hopefully see an easy transition for the passengers and the bus companies," he said.
