PREFECTS at a secondary school were yesterday told they would not need a badge for people to follow them if they can lead as a prefect through influence through relationships.
This message was given to the 30 Yat Sen Secondary School prefects during a leadership retreat.
The keynote speaker, Ariel Marr, spoke on the unseen qualities of a leader in terms of aligning values like commitment, integrity, responsibility, honesty among other things.
"Character is the tree and reputation is the shadow. Work on your character and your reputation will follow after."
School principal Iva Teilai said the reason they had the retreat was to equip the leaders to make sound decisions, and equip them with the skills to operate and manage their school life.
