SUVA Grammar School will hold another trial to select the squad for this year's Coca-Cola Games in April.
Head coach Jone Delai was not impressed with the show at the school's inter-house competition yesterday in Veiuto.
The former Pacific sprint king said there was no significant improvement in the competition level from last year.
"Maybe because of the unfavourable weather which has prompted athletes from doing proper preparations for the inter-house competition," Delai said.
"We will hold a time trial before selecting the team for the Coca-Cola Games."
The day-long inter-house competition featured more than 300 students divided into four teams named after various colours.
Yellow team won the boy's division while Red won the girl's grade.
Poasa Tiko looks to be the top contender for the blue ribbon title in the Fiji Finals after he clocked 11.4 seconds to win the gold medal in the 100metres dash.
"Poasa is a new athlete. He has been with us but never took part in the athletics competition and this year he realised his potential and competed in the inter-house," Delai added.
In the girl's grade, Catherine Balenagaga from the intermediate category clocked the fastest time of 13.1 sec.
"These two are our contenders at the moment and we hope to find more as we progress with our preparation for the Coca-Cola Games," Delai said.
"Overall the inter-house was quite successful and the students enjoyed themselves and had a great day of fun."
