FORMER national champion Deepak J Ram has taken a 23-point lead in the Southern Snooker League competition.

This after he won round three of the Carz and Carz sponsored competition at Nausori Club last Sunday.

The win gave Ram 30 points, which, added to his 30 for winning round one and four points for competing in round two takes his overall points to 64 points.

Tournament official Riffat Bhatti said the five-time National Snooker Ranking competition winner looked set to regain his top status.

"Ram beat Ravinesh Maharaj in the finals on Sunday to maintain his lead in the competition," he said.

Bhatti said the league had become interesting with each round.

He said a new player would make his mark in each round of the competition thus making it difficult to predict the eventual winner.

"Two different people have won so far and three different people have finished second in each round.

"Ram maintains his lead because he has won two rounds and Sikeli Nawaqaliva who won round two currently sits on fourth place with 31 points overall.

"Maharaj with four points for competing in the first round, 15 points for the reaching second round semi-finals and 22 points for second place in round three sits on second place overall with 41 points.

"Jiten Prasad who sits on third place has played in two semi-finals and one quarter-final," Bhatti said.

The league continues with round four games at Nausori Club tomorrow.
