THE Fiji College of General Practitioners and the Suva Private Hospital will collaborate to identify doctors at the hospital to become mentors to new colleagues.
The decision was made at a meeting between SPH and the Fiji Medical Council.
Council chief executive officer Dharmesh Prasad said the meeting aimed to help the hospital recruit doctors.
A statement said the council resolved that the regulations would stand and were apt in ensuring safety and quality medical practice.
It said both parties would collaborate to identify doctors at SPH to become mentors to new appointees. Mr Prasad said doctors at the SPH would become FCGP members and the responsibility would lie with the hospital to recruit doctors who meet the determined criteria.
Hospital executive director Pramesh Chand said they were looking at ways of recruiting new doctors.
