TRADITIONAL, church and community leaders in the district of Tawake, Cakaudrove were part of a peace building workshop aimed at educating them to resolve conflicts in a peaceful way.

Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding training officer Tevita Tokalauvere told participants that it was important to understand, identify and know how to resolve conflicts so that the results were agreed by all parties involved.

"Our hope is that after this training, the participants will heed the teachings and use it either to avoid or resolve conflicts and always working to build peace in your communities or villages.

"Many of the participants were appreciative of being part of the training as their roles and responsibilities as leaders were addressed and also of the new ideas and skills learnt," Mr Tokalauvere said. The European Union funded program brought leaders from namely Wainigadru, Wainiika, Tawake and Naboutini villages.
