Association mourns loss

FORMER Labasa Taxi Association president Brijanand Sharma passed away this week after a short illness. Current president Mahendra Singh said Mr Sharma would be surely missed by members. "He has been our president for more than 20 years until I took over a few years ago. He has done so much for the members and always fought for our rights as taxidrivers and the fact that we need better resources at our stand," Mr Singh said. Mr Sharma would be cremated today.

Diver's death inquiry

POLICE investigations into the death of a 22-year-old man who died while diving in Bua last week continues. The body is still kept at the Labasa Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The man was diving at sea near Yaqaga Island when the incident happened.

Centre organises march

THE Fiji Women's Crisis Centre will host a 'Reclaim the Night' march in Labasa Town. FWCC's Labasa project officer Sera Bogitini said the march would be held next Friday night beginning from Y-Corner at 7pm. Labasa's special administrator Vijay Chand will meet the procession at the Civic Centre carpark.
