Water cuts affect people

Luke Rawalai
Friday, March 01, 2013

THE Water Authority of Fiji says water disruptions faced by residents of Qarawalu, Taveuni, were caused by mechanical problems to the generator that serviced the area.

WAF spokesman officer Maika Nagalu said the affected areas included Qarawalu, Vuna and Ura.

"Our production team in Labasa will be sending over a spare generator to Qarawalu to rectify the problem," he said. "It will take some time for our technicians to ensure installation after which the water supply is expected to be restored."

He advised affected customers to save rain water and use it for other purposes like washing clothes, and ensure water was boiled before drinking.
