WAF clarifies RKS water issue

THE Water Authority of Fiji has clarified that the diarrhoea outbreak at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Tailevu was not a result of the authority's water supply being contaminated.

Authority team leader corporate communication Fulori Turaga said all WAF water provision to the school was sourced from their treatment plant that was treated and safe to drink.

She said they were looking into all other possible contributing factors like dirty water tanks, holding containers and other non-treated source, which the students might have drunk from. "There was a suspension of water service and WAF had sent water trucks to the school. We will have to find out if the source containers were somehow contaminated. These are some of the things we are currently looking into and of course would like to get to the bottom of it," Mrs Turaga said.
