Nasik Swami
Thursday, February 28, 2013

THE number of Fijians residing illegally in New Zealand has decreased from an estimated 1055 in 2011 to 853 last year.

This has been confirmed by the senior communications adviser for New Zealand's Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Angie Enoka.

Ms Enoka said the latest estimate of the number of overstayers was conducted last year and that these have been marked for deportation.

She said the 853 Fijians had overstayed their visas, breached their visa conditions, procured their visas by fraud or committed criminal offences.
