THE Fiji Rugby Union has been boosted by another sponsorship deal.

Yesterday, FRU signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Carpenters Motors that saw them become the official vehicle provider from 2013 to 2017.

According to the FRU website, the vehicles that will be supplied will be from the Hyundai franchise but the sponsorship will be paid for by Carpenters Motors and not the Hyundai Motor Company.

FRU deputy chairman Ilaitia Tuisese said that they were very grateful to Carpenters Motors for stepping in and sponsoring FRU.

"I would like to express our sincere appreciation to Carpenters Motors for sponsoring us with vehicles because this will help us spread the good gospel and continue with our development work in the rural areas," he said.

"As we are heading towards the Olympics and the 7s and 15s Rugby World Cup, thank you for coming on this road with us and for stepping in during these difficult times even though we cannot quantify the support Carpenters Motors has given us."

Tuisese said the vehicles would be put to good use for the development of rugby in Fiji.

Carpenters Motors General Manager Roger Powell told fijirugby.com their partnership with the FRU would give equal prominence to all their valued franchises, be it Hyundai, Nissan, Isuzu, Honda or UD trucks so that their clients would appreciate that their investments with Carpenters Motors would also be assisting in the development of Fiji's national sport - Rugby.

"On behalf of Carpenters group we would like to express our gratitude to FRU for allowing us to become their partner for the next five years," Powell said. "

"Carpenters as you know is one of the strongest automotive brands and we are very happy to be on the road with the FRU as we take this journey together towards the 7s RWC and the 2016 Olympics in Rio," he said.
