Ladies hope for weather change

THE organisers of the 2013 Ladies Summer Cup competition are hopeful good weather will prevail today when they play round six of the competition

Lady captain Margaret Browne said the back nine of the FMF Foods Ltd sponsored competition would be played if heavy downpour did not flood the green.

She said they did not want to postpone any rounds of competition as they were scheduled to finish the Summer Cup on March 12 and have the opening of the season proper on March 19.

"The weather does not look too good at the moment (yesterday) and we hope it will stop raining if only for our competition tomorrow (today)," Browne said.

"If it is a slight drizzle we will still play though. We don't let a little rain stop our competition," she said.

With three more rounds of the competition to be played, Browne said it was still anyone game.

She said except for Leanne Kenah, who won first place twice so far, there had been different first, second and third place winners each week, making it difficult to determine any one person taking home the cup.

"A couple of weeks ago, I did say that the first, second and third overall winners could be Leanne Kenah, Kamini Singh and Mua Rawlinson. But last week these three did not get a placing in round five. Leanne and Kamini however have retained their first and second place respectively, but Mua has now dropped to fourth position.

"On the leaderboard after five weeks of play we now have:

1st Leanne Kenah - 14 points

2nd - Kamini Singh - 13 points

3rd - Margie Browne - 10 points

4th - Mua Rawlinson - 9 points

"As you can see, Leanne and Kamini are only a point apart and Margie and Mua only a point apart.

"But with three weeks to go, if any lady comes in with the first place win each week she will easily oust these four ladies," Browne said.

She said the four ladies, who currently are on top of the leaderboard, must come in with a winning score for the next three weeks to maintain their position.
