THE national men's hockey team played a different style of hockey in their final match of the Hero Hockey World League Round 2 despite losing to Oman 3-7.
They upped their performance from all their previous matches.
Captain Hector Smith Jr opened Fiji's scoring within two minutes into the start from a short corner.
But Oman retaliated and scored their first goal right after.
Two minutes later James Saqacala increased the score with a field goal.
With the next minutes John Ah Tong put in another field goal.
Leading at half-time 3-1, the Hector Smith-coached side looked too good to win the match.
But Oman stopped them from scoring any further.
In the second half, Oman had three field goals, a penalty corner and a penalty stroke and an own goal.
National coach Hector Smith was hoping his team would win the match.
But he was proud of his boys for putting up a good effort.
