TAVUA thumped Savusavu 7-2 in their National Football League match at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

The western minnows started with a bang in the opening 10 minutes with goals from Ronald Chand, Tomasi Uculoa and Lekima Gonerau.

Shiu Prasad's goal in the 16th minute put Savusavu back into the game.

Tavua's Kaminieli Raudovu was issued a yellow card but they maintained their 3-1 lead until the break.

Akuila Bulewa improved Savusavu's score with his strike in the second half.

Poor defence from the Northerners opened the floodgates for Tavua.

Goals to Adre Makutu, Pradip Singh and Ronald Chand's brace of goals capitalised the team's seventh heaven performance.

A series of cautions were also issued during the second half to Tavua's Makutu and Savusavu's Kitione Kamikamica and Jonasa Bulinayau.

Tavua coach Savenaca Nasara was overjoyed with their victory saying they had a serious talk with the boys after their loss to Labasa on Saturday.

He said his boys performed to his expectations.

Savusavu team coach Manoj Lal was yet to come to terms with the result of the game stating that the players were affected with the distance through which they had travelled to and from the match venue.

"We look forward to our match against Navua and Rewa," he said.
