Hopgood: The harder you work, the luckier you get

OUTRIGGER on the Lagoon Fiji continues its success story in the tourism industry after winning yet another award during the AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards held at Sofitel on Friday night.

The resort won the Restaurants and Dinning-Fine Dinning Award awarded to their Ivi Restaurant and the second award was the Accommodation Deluxe Award. General manager Peter Hopgood said the secret recipe for their continuous achievement was sheer hard work and team unity.

The resort's spa was recently voted number four in Australasia.

"The harder you work, the luckier you get and we are lucky tonight for winning these two awards," Mr Hopgood said.

"The achievements are a team effort and I am so proud of our achievements."

Mr Hopgood said the impact of the two floods and Tropical Cyclone Evan failed to deter the team spirit of the staff members.

"Last year was a tough year, especially the two floods and the cyclone," he said.

"One of the things we focused on is the food. It was something that we as a team set out to improve and give the best quality that any resort in Fiji can possibly give.

"I think tonight's award is just an acknowledgement of the work of our kitchen brigade, the food and beverage and our human resources for training our staff members.

"As the GM, I am so proud for these achievements that we have taken this wonderful award.

"It's nice to be acknowledged as the number one compared to the many top resorts we have in the Fiji," he added.
