BA kept up its star-studded performance as it beat Savusavu 3-1 during their Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League playoffs in Subrail Park yesterday.

Savusavu gave the Men in Black a tough run in the early stages of the match which was finally shattered as Ba player Meli Codro converted a goal in 37th minute of play.

Ba capitalised on their lead and pressured the Savusavu team which resulted in Jope Lomu accidently scoring a own goal in the 30th minute of the second half.

Ba player Malakai Tiwa added another goal in the 44th minute of the second half sealing their victory 3-0.

The Savusavu team spirit remained strong as they managed to reel back and answer with a goal through Serupepeli Rokovuliuto during the final minutes of play with points at full time of 3-1.

Ba coach Yogendra Dutt described the win over Savusavu as the three points that mattered in the match.

"We are preparing for our next match against Labasa and we are taking each game as it comes," he added.

Savusavu coach Manoj Lal said he was pleased with his team's performance.

"Ba is a well established team and to score against them in this match is evident that Savusavu can hold off the challenges from these big teams.

"We had managed to hold them during the first half of play but than fitness is another issue that we have against us since we have not been training because of the wet weather spell that we have been having recently," said Lal.

"We are looking forward to our match against Tavua tomorrow and we will give them a run for their victory."
