THE third trial to select the national team for the 2013 Nomura Cup will be held at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club in Nadi on March 2.

Fiji's top amateur golfer Olaf Allen Junior, National Golf Association of Fiji secretary Amitesh Chandra, Anuresh Chandra and Roneel Prakash are contenders for a spot in the national team.

The trial was initially supposed to be held yesterday.

According to the NGAF secretary Amitesh, they moved the trials to next Saturday because of the adverse weather conditions.

"There has been heavy rain over the past few days which has made the golf course wet," Amitesh said.

"Playing 36 holes in one day on a wet course would not be recommended as players would not be able to perform to the best of their abilities. We don't want to hold trials just for the sake of it. So this is a good time for all players to continue with their fitness training as it would prove very rewarding next week."

"The road to final selection will get harder as the training squad will be reduced from 20 to 12 soon," Amitesh.
