ALWAYS be true to who you are, no matter what.
These were the words of renowned Fiji-born rapper, Sam Ratumaitavuki, who arrived in the country on Friday.
Mr Ratumaitavuki, 25, better known by his stage name, Fortafy, said the talent in Fiji was present but that it needed to be tapped into with the correct mindset.
"If you're doing music or anything, just tell your own story, don't try and watch something on TV and emulate someone else's life. You need to tell your life experiences because if you don't, people can see right through it.
"There are too many people with an "it's so hard here" mindset — that's the wrong mindset to have though."
Fortafy, who came into Suva yesterday afternoon, performed his first Suva gig last night at the Down Under club.
He is in the country as part of a relief effort visit to aid the children in Western Division who were displaced by Tropical Cyclone Evan at the end of last year.
