POLICE have again urged the public to take extra care while out at sea after another case of drowning was reported in Vanua Levu on Friday.

Divisional Police Commander North, Senior Superintendent Fulori Rainibogi said the 22-year-old went out to sea with a group of villagers to collect seaweed.

"Police is investigating the death of the young man believed to have drowned in the waters of Bua on Friday afternoon. It happened outside Yaqaga Island and the young man is believed to have drowned while out at sea," she said.

Meanwhile, the body of Jovilisi Moceiwasa who drowned at Vuda River on Thursday afternoon was found floating near Tavarua Island yesterday.

West police media spokeswoman Naina Ragigia said the body was discovered at around 12 midday by some Namotu Island Resort hotel workers.

The deceased, who was a security guard, is survived by his wife Losana Soli Ratulevu and six-year-old daughter Ateca Tavui Labalaba.

Ms Ragigia said police were again calling on members of the public not to swim in flooded rivers because of the strong currents.
